Hunza G is everywhere again this summer. Hailey Bieber wears it. Sabrina Carpenter wears it. There is even a Burberry collab. But a set now costs £175 to £215, and the one size fit only stretches from about a UK 6 to 16. The crinkle texture divides people too. Some love it. Some find it less flattering than a smooth, sculpting fabric.
So we went looking for the best alternatives. We price checked every brand on this list in July 2026, on their own sites, in pounds where possible. Full disclosure: Bareneath is our brand, and we have ranked it first. We think the reasons below are fair, but you can judge for yourself.
This list splits into two camps. The first is for people who love the minimal Hunza G look but want smooth fabric, real sizes, or a lower price. The second is for people who want the exact crinkle texture as cheaply as possible.

Why is Hunza G so expensive?
A quick bit of context helps here. Hunza G was founded in London in 1984, and Whitney Houston wore the pink crinkle dress in her "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" video. Georgiana Huddart relaunched the brand in 2015. The signature Original Crinkle fabric is 97% polyamide and 3% elastane, knitted on a tubular loom with over nine million stitches per suit. That is real craft, and it is why the fabric stretches to fit so many bodies.
But it also means you are paying £175 to £215 for a set. And the one size approach has limits. If you are smaller than a UK 6 or bigger than a 16, or you want proper bust support, the fit gets harder. That is where the alternatives come in.
The smooth luxury alternatives
1. Bareneath: best smooth alternative to Hunza G
Price: £94 a set (£49 top, £45 bottom)
Bareneath is our brand, so read this knowing that. Here is the honest case. If what draws you to Hunza G is the minimal, quietly expensive look rather than the crinkle itself, Bareneath gives you that look for less than half the price. A full set is £94. Every piece is seamless and double lined, so it holds its shape and never turns sheer when wet. The fabric is 80% recycled polyamide with 20% elastane, the same fibre family as Hunza G, but smooth and sculpting instead of textured.
The palette is muted earth tones like Espresso, Cacao Shell and Paprika, plus classic Black. There are no logos and no hardware. And unlike Hunza G, you get real sizes from XS to XL, so you pick the fit rather than hoping the stretch works for you. The brand is UK based, so shipping and returns are simple.
Choose it if: you want the quiet luxury beach look in a smooth, second skin fabric, with real sizes, at £94 a set.
Skip it if: the crinkle texture is the whole point for you, or you need cup sized bra fitting.
2. Youswim: best one size alternative
Price: £156 for one pieces and two pieces
Youswim is the closest rival to the one size idea, and in one way it beats Hunza G. Its Versoform fabric comes in two stretch ranges. Stretch I fits UK 6 to 16. Stretch II fits UK 18 to 28. So it covers twelve more UK sizes than Hunza G does. The fabric is smooth rather than crinkled, and the suits are made in England.
The catch is the price. At £156 it saves you £20 to £60 on a Hunza G set, which is not a huge gap. And like all ultra stretch swimwear, it offers little structure or bust support.
Choose it if: you love the adaptive one size concept but fall outside Hunza G's range, or you prefer smooth fabric.
Skip it if: you want a real saving or a sculpted fit.
3. Away That Day: best premium sculpting option
Price: tops £59 to £125, bottoms £55 to £79
Away That Day is a London brand stocked by Selfridges and Anthropologie. The fabric is a recycled polyamide blend with a thick, expensive feel, and the shapes are clean and minimal. The entry level Rio set comes in around £114, though popular styles like the Cannes top push a set past £150. Sizes run from XS to XXXL, which is one of the widest ranges in premium swim.
Choose it if: you want a sculpting luxury suit with department store backing and wide sizing.
Skip it if: you are buying on price. Its one pieces cost £175 to £195, which is Hunza G money.
4. Monday Swimwear: best for bust support
Price: tops around $99 to $113, roughly £150 a set
Monday Swimwear was founded by Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman, and it solves the thing one size swim never can: proper support. Tops come in cup options from A through G, in buttery double lined fabric that is 84% recycled nylon. The brand even has its own crinkle collection if you want the texture with real sizing.
The downside for UK shoppers is that it is a US brand. Prices are in dollars, and shipping, customs and returns all add friction and cost.
Choose it if: you need real cup sizing and support that stretch fabric cannot give.
Skip it if: you want UK prices, UK returns and no customs risk.
The crinkle lookalikes
5. Monki: best cheap crinkle fabric
Price: crinkle tops from £15 at ASOS
Here is a detail most dupe lists miss. Monki's crinkle bikini fabric is 81% polyamide and 19% elastane. That is the closest cheap fabric to Hunza G's own 97% polyamide blend, so it feels softer and stretchier than the polyester dupes. A full mix and match set comes in around £30. The trade off is limited colours, standard sizing, and shrinking availability now that Monki sells mainly through ASOS.
Choose it if: you want the closest fabric feel to Hunza G at about a sixth of the price.
Skip it if: you want one size stretch or lots of colour options.
6. Free Society at ASOS: best budget crinkle set
Price: crinkle tops £24, sets around £40
Free Society is an ASOS label, and its crinkle bikinis look convincing in photos at around £40 for a set. The fabric is 97% polyester with 3% elastane, so it feels stiffer than polyamide and tends to fade faster. For a one week holiday it does the job, and ASOS returns are easy.
Choose it if: you want the crinkle look for one trip without spending much.
Skip it if: you want a suit that lasts more than a season or two.
7. M&S: best high street crinkle with tummy control
Price: around £32, sizes UK 8 to 24
M&S crinkle swimsuits have been widely covered as Hunza G lookalikes, and they offer something Hunza G does not: tummy control panels and proper UK sizing up to a 24. The crinkle tummy control swimsuit has been reported at around £32. Prices and stock change often at M&S, so check the current listing before you set your heart on one.
Choose it if: you want light shaping, wide sizing and easy high street returns.
Skip it if: you want the premium fabric feel or a bikini rather than a one piece.
8. Primark: the £12 lookalike
Price: £12, in store only
Primark's £12 crinkle swimsuit went viral as the cheapest Hunza G lookalike in the UK. At this price the fabric is thinner and the fit is more basic, but nothing else gets you the look for less. You cannot buy it online. Primark does not sell online, so it is in store only and stock varies by branch.
Choose it if: you want to test the crinkle trend for the price of two coffees.
Skip it if: you cannot get to a store, or you want a suit that survives many washes.
How we chose this list
We checked every price in this article in July 2026, on each brand's own site where possible. Where a price came from press coverage rather than a live listing, such as M&S and Primark, we say so and suggest you confirm before buying. We looked at four things: price against Hunza G, fabric quality, size range, and how easy the brand is to buy and return in the UK. We excluded brands whose swim lines appear discontinued. Bareneath is our own brand and we have disclosed that above.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a Hunza G bikini in the UK?
Bikini sets cost £175 to £215 direct from Hunza G in 2026, and one pieces are the same range. The Burberry collab pieces cost more.
What sizes does the Hunza G one size fit?
The brand says its one size fits about a UK 6 to 16, with some styles stretching further depending on the fit you want. Outside that range, sized brands like Bareneath (XS to XL) or Away That Day (XS to XXXL), or Youswim's Stretch II (UK 18 to 28), will fit better.
What is Hunza G fabric made of?
The Original Crinkle fabric is 97% polyamide and 3% elastane, knitted on a tubular loom so each suit is made with over nine million stitches.
What is the closest one size alternative to Hunza G?
Youswim, at £156 and made in England. It uses smooth stretch fabric rather than crinkle, and its two stretch ranges cover UK 6 to 28.
Are cheap crinkle dupes any good?
Some are better than others. Monki's crinkle is 81% polyamide, close to Hunza G's fibre, so it feels the most similar. Many others use polyester, which feels stiffer and fades faster. No dupe replicates the one size tubular knit.
