9 Best Seamless Bikinis That Don't Go See-Through When Wet (2026)

Two things ruin more beach days than anything else. Seams that dig into your skin and leave red marks. And fabric that turns see-through the moment you get out of the water. Both problems have the same cause: cheap construction. And both have real fixes, if you know what to look for on a product page.

This guide explains the fixes in plain terms, then ranks the nine best brands we found that actually deliver them. We price checked everything in July 2026. Full disclosure: Bareneath is our brand, and we have ranked it first. Very few brands offer both seamless construction and full double lining, and that combination is exactly what we built it around. Judge the list for yourself.

The quick answer

  1. Bareneath: seamless and double lined under £50 a piece
  2. Ocean Soul Bali: the seamless surf specialist
  3. Monday Swimwear: the double lined benchmark
  4. Away That Day: thick premium ECONYL
  5. Sommer Swim: double lined Italian fabric
  6. Gooseberry: sculpting double lined cuts
  7. Triangl: thick, opaque, cup sized sets
  8. Bond Eye: one size crinkle texture
  9. M&S: the high street budget pick

Why do bikinis go see-through when wet?

Three reasons, usually working together. First, water makes thin fabric lose opacity, and stretching over curves thins it even more. Second, light colours let more light pass through, which is why white and ivory suits fail first. Third, the lining is too thin. Swimwear lining runs from about 80 to 200 GSM, which is grams per square metre, and standard lining sits at around 90 to 120 GSM. That is often not enough on its own.

The fix is double lining. That means the suit has two full layers of swim fabric, not just a small modesty panel. Two layers of 100 GSM lining give far more coverage and support than one. A double lined suit in a dark or mid tone colour will stay opaque, wet or dry.

Why do seams dig in and leave marks?

Traditional swimwear is stitched: fabric edges are folded, sewn and finished with elastic. Elastic is usually the culprit when a suit cuts into your skin. Even a correctly sized suit can dig in one spot and gape in another, because stitched seams stop the stretch at every line.

Seamless swimwear works differently. Edges are bonded or laser cut, sealed with heat and pressure rather than thread and elastic. The edge lies flat, stretch spreads across the whole panel, and there are no ridges to press into your skin or show under clothes. One honest note: in swimwear, "seamless" usually means bonded, clean finished edges rather than literally zero seams. The result you feel is the same. Nothing digs in.

One more thing: check the fibre

Polyamide, also called nylon, is the soft, stretchy, second skin fibre used by luxury brands. Polyester resists chlorine better and dries faster, but feels stiffer. For beach and holiday wear, a polyamide blend with around 20% elastane is the premium standard. Recycled versions like ECONYL are made from recovered fishing nets and fabric waste. Whatever you buy, rinse it after the pool, since chlorine wears polyamide down faster.

The brands

1. Bareneath: seamless and double lined under £50 a piece

Price: £94 a set (£49 top, £45 bottom)

Bareneath Izzy Top in Paprika, seamless double lined bikini top

Bareneath Izzy Top in Paprika, £49

Bareneath is our brand, and this list is the reason it exists. Almost every brand we researched offers either seamless construction or double lining. Bareneath does both, on every piece. The edges are clean finished with no bulky elastic, so nothing digs in or leaves marks. And every top and bottom carries two full layers of recycled polyamide fabric, so even the lighter shades stay opaque in the water.

The fabric is 80% recycled polyamide with 20% elastane, the premium blend standard. Colours are muted earth tones like Espresso, Cacao Shell and Paprika, plus Black. Sizes run XS to XL, a set is £94, and the brand ships from the UK with simple returns.

Choose it if: you want the full fix, bonded smooth edges plus double lining, at under £50 a piece.
Skip it if: you need moulded padding or underwire structure.

2. Ocean Soul Bali: the seamless surf specialist

Price: bottoms around £41, converted from Australian dollars

Ocean Soul Bali, The Aceh seamless bottoms

Ocean Soul Bali makes seamless, double lined bikinis in Italian ECONYL, designed to survive actual surfing. The edges are smooth, the lining is doubled, and the fabric carries UPF 50 sun protection. Sizes run XXS to XL, about a UK 4 to 16. Two cautions for UK buyers: it ships from Bali, so customs charges are possible, and the brand itself says its black fabric shrinks slightly in dyeing, so size up in black.

Choose it if: you want seamless and double lined construction that stays put in waves.
Skip it if: you want GBP checkout and easy UK returns.

3. Monday Swimwear: the double lined benchmark

Price: tops around $111, roughly £85 to £90 a piece

Monday Swimwear Palma Top

Monday Swimwear built its reputation on buttery, double lined fabric, 82% recycled nylon with 18% spandex, with the lining cut from the same fabric as the outside. It also offers something rare: eight sizes with real cup options up to G. Worth noting, the brand itself warns that its ivory shade can go slightly sheer when wet, which tells you two things. The brand is honest, and even double lining has limits in the palest colours. Construction is stitched rather than bonded.

Choose it if: you want double lined fabric with proper bust support.
Skip it if: you want bonded seamless edges, or UK based returns. It ships from the US.

4. Away That Day: thick premium ECONYL

Price: tops £95, bottoms £55 to £59

Away That Day Cannes bikini top in thick ECONYL fabric

Away That Day Cannes Top, £95

Away That Day is a London brand stocked by Selfridges, and its angle is fabric weight. Its ECONYL regenerated nylon is cut slightly thicker than conventional swim nylon, which gives a sculpting, expensive feel and strong opacity. It does not advertise seamless construction or double lining, so it earns its place here on sheer fabric quality. UK shipping is fast and cheap, and sizes reach XXL.

Choose it if: you want thick, premium recycled fabric from a UK brand.
Skip it if: you specifically want bonded edges or verified double lining.

5. Sommer Swim: double lined Italian fabric

Price: bottoms $79 to $119, roughly £62 to £94

Sommer Swim describes its suits as precision cut and double lined, in signature Italian Lycra. The look is sculptural glamour with minimal coverage, and the double lining keeps those small pieces opaque. It ships from North America, so UK buyers should budget for shipping and possible customs.

Choose it if: you want a sleek, minimal coverage look that stays opaque.
Skip it if: you want UK convenience or fuller coverage.

6. Gooseberry: sculpting double lined cuts

Price: tops $50 to $59, roughly £40 to £47

Gooseberry Intimates double lined halter swim top in Golden Moss

Gooseberry Intimates makes sculpting swim with double lined construction and clean finishes at a fair mid price. Sizes run XS to XL plus some one size styles, and you can shop in pounds on its site. The gap: it does not publish its fabric composition, so you are trusting feel over spec.

Choose it if: you want double lined, shapely cuts around £40 a piece.
Skip it if: you want published fabric specs and simple UK returns.

7. Triangl: thick, opaque, cup sized sets

Price: sets $119 to $135, roughly £95 to £108

Triangl Dara neoprene bikini set in Choc Mint

Triangl Dara set in Choc Mint

Triangl became famous for its neoprene style fabric, and that thickness is exactly why it belongs here. The fabric is inherently opaque, wet or dry. Tops come cup sized from A to E, and sets ship worldwide with express delivery. The seams are bold and visible, though. That is part of the sporty look, so this is the pick for opacity, not for invisible edges.

Choose it if: you want thick, structured, definitely not sheer fabric with cup sizing.
Skip it if: visible seams bother you, or you want soft second skin fabric.

8. Bond Eye: one size crinkle texture

Price: tops $110 to $145, roughly £87 to £115

Bond Eye Ring Edwards crinkle bikini

Bond Eye takes a different route to opacity: texture. Its Australian made crinkle fabric, in mostly recycled nylon, is dense and gathered, so it does not flash skin the way thin smooth fabric can. The high stretch one size fit adapts to a wide range of bodies. It does not publish lining details, so buy it for the texture and the fit, not for a double lining guarantee. UK shoppers can find it at Farfetch.

Choose it if: you love the crinkle look and an adaptive one size fit.
Skip it if: you want smooth minimalist fabric or verified lining specs.

9. M&S: the high street budget pick

Price: bikini separates typically £14 to £30 a piece

Swimwear at M&S

If the budget will not stretch past £30 a piece, M&S is the safest high street bet. Its swim ranges include lined and tummy control options, padded cups and UPF 50 sun protection, with sizing that goes well beyond most fashion brands. You will not get bonded seams or full double lining at this price, so stick to darker colours to be safe. Returns are as easy as it gets.

Choose it if: you want a reliable lined bikini under £30 a piece with easy returns.
Skip it if: you want premium fabric or a seamless finish.

What to avoid

Ultra cheap swim from fast fashion sites is where see-through problems live. The pattern is always the same: thin single lined polyester, no published fabric weight, and light colours that fail on first contact with water. If a product page will not tell you the fibre, the lining, or both, that silence is the answer.

How we chose this list

We checked prices in July 2026 on each brand's own site. Dollar prices are converted at July 2026 rates, so treat them as close estimates. We ranked on four things: whether the construction claims are real and stated on the product page, lining, fabric quality, and how easy the brand is to buy and return in the UK. Only two brands on this list state both seamless construction and full double lining on their pages: Bareneath and Ocean Soul Bali. Bareneath is our own brand, and we disclose that above.

Frequently asked questions

Why do bikinis go see-through when wet?

Water reduces the opacity of thin fabric, stretch thins it further over curves, and light colours let more light through. Thin single linings of around 90 to 120 GSM often cannot compensate. Double lining roughly doubles the effective fabric weight, which is why double lined suits stay opaque.

What does double lined actually mean?

Two full layers of swim fabric throughout the piece, the outer shell plus a complete second layer, often in the same fabric. It is not the same as a small modesty panel in the gusset or cups. Double lining adds opacity, light compression and a smoother shape.

Are seamless bikinis more flattering?

For most people, yes. Bonded edges remove the stitched ridges and tight elastic that cut lines into your skin, so you avoid the dig in marks above and below the fabric edge. Stretch also spreads across the whole panel instead of stopping at seams, which gives a smoother line under clothes.

How do I stop my bikini digging in?

Check the elastic first, because it is usually the culprit. Choose bonded or elastic free edges, wider bands, and higher stretch double lined fabric that spreads pressure. And get the size right: too big sags and shifts, too small digs everywhere.

Is polyamide or polyester better for a bikini?

Polyamide, also called nylon, is softer and stretchier, and it is what luxury brands use for the second skin feel. Polyester resists chlorine better and dries about a quarter faster. For beach holidays, polyamide wins on feel. Just rinse it after swimming pools, since chlorine degrades it faster.
